Welcome to Community Colors!

Founded by Brenda Scettrini-Saglio, Paul Richmond, and Briden Schueren, Community Colors Murals is a collaborative art initiative dedicated to transforming spaces and strengthening communities through the power of public art.
We specialize in indoor and outdoor murals that celebrate connection, creativity, and local pride. Whether it’s a bustling city wall or a quiet community center, we bring color, life, and meaning to every surface we touch - creating environments where people can gather, reflect, and feel inspired.
🌍 We travel! No matter where you are, we’re excited to collaborate and bring your vision to life.
Let’s make something beautiful together. 📩 Contact us to discuss your mural project ideas.
Our Work
“They were so easy to work with and honestly made coming to the office fun and exciting. Each day we anxiously awaited not only their progress on the murals themselves, but also the videos they made along the way to keep things playful. We can’t wait for our next project with them!” -Cassie Jimenez, Outreach Specialist at Coastal Kids Home Care
Our Process
“We are grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing this project to life. It is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared vision and passion for our community.” -Rena Salamacha, Mee Memorial CEO
About Us

Brenda Scettrini Saglio is a native of the Salinas Valley, and this land is her primary muse. Her artistic practice began with encouragement from her father but has grown into a lifelong dialogue with her home. From the Arroyo Seco to the Gabilan Mountains, she finds beauty in the landscape and in the strength of the people who work it. Having practiced family medicine in Salinas for over two decades, she has been privileged to hear their stories—narratives of struggle, resilience, and hope that she carries into her studio.
Her art seeks to honor these stories. Whether she is creating stained glass windows, engaged in printmaking, or painting on canvas, her goal is to capture the spirit of the diverse individuals who make this valley what it is. This commitment extends beyond the gallery and into the community itself. Through public murals in communities across Monterey County, including Bradley, King City, Soledad, Salinas, and Seaside, she strives to bring art into everyday life, creating landmarks of shared identity and pride. For her, creating art is an act of cultivation—planting seeds of inspiration for the future while honoring the deep roots of our past.

Briden Cole Schueren is an award-winning queer trans artist, activist, and entrepreneur whose work celebrates connection and the unapologetic expression of identity. With over two decades in the arts, including more than a decade leading BrickBox Studios, Briden has produced murals, exhibitions, and collaborations that center queer joy and amplify marginalized voices. A self-taught multidisciplinary artist, they infuse painting, mixed media, photography, embroidery, and design with movement, color, and emotional depth. Beyond the studio, Briden has organized dozens of gallery shows and fundraisers, using art to elevate others’ voices and inspire the next generation to thrive. Recognized with the 2024 Queer Joy Award from Equality Ohio, their work sparks dialogue on love, resilience, and the power of shared spaces.

Paul Richmond is an artist, illustrator, and activist whose work blends bold, emotionally charged imagery with a deep commitment to community and public art. Born in Columbus, Ohio, and trained under mentor Linda Regula, Richmond has built an international reputation for his vibrant figurative paintings exploring identity and self-discovery, and has been commissioned by notable figures including Dolly Parton. Beyond gallery walls, he uses art as a tool for connection and advocacy—co-founding the You Will Rise Project to empower bullying survivors and serving as Executive Director of Art Makes Us, where he fosters inclusive creative spaces that uplift emerging artists. He is also the author of Star Gazing: The First 40 Years of My Life As An Artist, a richly illustrated autobiography offering an intimate look at his journey. Based in Monterey, California, Richmond continues to inspire through projects that merge artistic excellence with social impact.
